Jeffrey J. Simpson, Ph.D.


Jeff served as the Study Abroad Coordinator before stepping into the role of Director in 2012. He holds a PhD in Higher Education Leadership from OSU, a Masters in International Studies from OSU, and a Bachelors in Design from the University of Arkansas. Prior to his role promoting study abroad for all students in Oklahoma, he served for 16 years as the Operations Manager for a creativity and innovation company in Arizona serving a wide range of international clients. His current research efforts focus on gender and the study abroad experience. While Jeff has traveled to many different countries, he studied abroad at the University of Helsinki in Finland and interned abroad in London, England.

Sam Ball

Program Coordinator

Samuel Ball has a Bachelors in International Business from OSU, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in International Studies with a focus in Cultural Heritage at OSU. He was born and raised in Stillwater, but has also lived in Japan, South Korea, and Thailand for work and studies. He studied abroad as an exchange student for a year at Shinshu University in Matsumoto, Japan. Samuel enjoys traveling in his free-time and meeting with people from all over the world.

Marissa Hernandez

Student Exchange Coordinator

Marissa Hernandez holds a Master of Science in International Studies from OSU and a B.A. in Law from Monterrey Tec (ITESM) where she was fortunate to participate in various study abroad programs that helped reinforce her love for travel and international education. She is a native of Denver, Colorado, grew up in Chihuahua, Mexico and has lived in Stillwater for the past 3 years. Marissa has traveled to several countries and has been involved with different study abroad programs all over Mexico, Canada and Germany.

Our Peer Advisors have returned from studying away and help students navigate the application process by advising on the different program types, providing information on the application process, important dates and deadlines, and giving presentations to various academic groups and student organizations across campus.
